NYG : Director Hails Team Rivers Performance In Asaba
Director and Head Coach
of Rivers State Sports Council, Regina Briggs, has hailed the performance of Team Rivers athletes in the just concluded National Youth Games (NYG), in Asaba, Delta State.
According to him, he was very excited because Team Rivers’ performance was excellent, adding that he was concerned at the starting of the games that the contingent may perform poorly on the medal table.
Briggs said this last Friday in an exclusive interview with Tidesports shortly after Team Rivers defeated Team Kwara 3-2 in the final game of baseball at the NYG in Asaba.
He explained that Team Rivers’ preparation was not so much but he was happy at the end of the games.
“I must say I am very excited because Team Rivers has made us proud.
“From the start of the games I was a little bit disappointed but not the one who started the race well always celebrate at the end of the day.
“What I have learned so far from the tournament is that we are going home to do more
