Rivers ICT Department Commences Summer Lesson
The Rivers State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department has said it has commenced the Junior Tech Farm For junior students in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the Director of Administration, ICT, Mrs. Aleruchi Akani, and made available to the press in Port Harcourt.
The statement revealed that the ICT programme will be a five-week intensive computer training for youngster between the ages of nine to 18 years.
With the theme, “Junior Tech Farm 2023”, the programme had commenced since July 31 to end on September 4, 2023.
The classes focus on Digital Lifestyle, Coding (Web Development), Graphics Design and Cyber Security.
The Tide gathered that the ICT summer lesson has been on for over a decade, and accomodates all students in the prescribed category, both indegenes and non-indegenes who are resident in the State.
The Tide learnt that the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, recently sent the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Chisom Kenneth Gbali, to conduct on-the-spot assessment of the Department and its environment to enable the Government act accordingly.
It was further gathered that the ICT Department has trained both primary and secondary school students in the State free of charge.
