Sule Lays Foundation For 1st LNG, CNG Facility In North-Central
The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has laid the foundation for the establishment of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas(CNG) in the state.
The two million US Dollar investment which was spearheaded by Greenville LNG is the first of its kind in the North Central region of the country and has 23 metric tonnes capacity of LNG and 1,500 SCM of CNG.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the project in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Governor Sule expressed satisfaction with the project which, according to him, is in line with his dream for a prosperous and economically developed state.
In his welcome remarks, the Masnaging Director/Chief Executive Officer, Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA), Ibrahim. A. Abdullah, said the project would be a springboard to other businesses as it fits into the industrialisation agenda of the Nasarawa State Government.
On his part, the Managing Director, Greenville LNG, represented by the Director of Administration, Joseph Oyadoyin, noted that the project would further crystallize the industrialisation drive of Governor Abdullahi Sule as it would bring more investment to the State.
He added that the company would establish another facility in Karu Local Government Area after the completion of the first project in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
The ceremony also witnessed the official handover of the CoFO for the project which was facilitated by the State’s one-stop shop, the Nasarawa State Investment and Development Agency(NASIDA) after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Nasarawa State Government and Greenville LNG in November last year.
The partnership between the government and Greenville LNG aimed at promoting a virtual gas supply for businesses and individuals in Nasarawa State and by extension, the North Central region of the country.
The project is expected to usher in the introduction of LNG and CNG usage for heavy-duty trucks as well as smaller vehicles such as automobiles and Keke NAPEP in the region as fuel prices have skyrocketed since the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in May.
The project is also poised to revolutionise the transportation industry in Nasarawa State by addressing fuel shortages and enhancing gas usage and distribution within the region.
