The traditional ruler stressed that the plight of the people could be ameliorated if the companies take seriously the issue of employment of youths from oil bearing communities.
Fielding questions from The Tide, Eze Oshimili also called for effective skills acquisition programmes for the youths in oil bearing communities in order to cushion the negative impact of unemployment to the people.
Ifeanyi who is also the Ogwu Agbali of Orashi enjoined multinational companies operating in the nation’s oil sector to consider employment of youths from oil rich communities as a way of creating room for mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence.
He explained that direct employment and effective skill acquisition programmes with functional starter packs would rekindle the people’s hope.
He said the importance of evolving self reliant youths and socio-economic empowered people can not be over-emphasised.
