VC Warns Students Against Exam Malpractices, Cultism
Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Prof, Nlerum Okogbule, has warned the newly matriculating students against examination malpractices, cultism and indecent dressing, saying that those culpable would be expelled or rusticated from the university.
Okogbule gave the warning during the 41st matriculation of 8,441 fresh students of the university, recently.
According to Okogbule, Rivers State University has zero tolerance for examination malpractices, cultism, indecent dressing as well as other social vices.
He also warned the newly matriculating students not to be allowed to be used by anybody in the university, but should be focused on their academic studies.
He assured the new students that there is a reward for any serious student whose Cumulative Grade Point Assessment (CGPA) is high above 4 points while opining that any student who gets As throughout has the advantage of getting a scholarship from the university management for higher studies and or securing appointment as a lecturer in the university.
He maintained that the university management has an eguipped library to encourage academic excellence and enjoined the newly matriculating students to avail themselves of the opportunity in order to benefit from the university scholarship.
Okogbule affirmed that the 8,441 matriculating students had satisfied the minimum requirements for the entry into the university, urging the students to be focused and hardworking inorder to achieve the purpose of being at the university.
He used the opportunity to thank Governor Nyesom Wike for the confidence reposed on the management of the university which has led to infrastructural development in the university that has enhanced the commencement of satellite campuses in Emuoha, Ahoada and Etche, while wishing the new students well as they successfully conclude their programmes with the university.
