Rivers Community Extols Wike’s Leadership Virtues
The people of Okuru-Ama community in Port Harcourt Local Government Area have extolled the leadership virtues of outgoing Rivers State Governor, Chief NyesomWike, describing his successful tenure as a living testament to his competence, dexterity and capacity to govern with human face.
A cross section of the people, including chiefs, community development committee (CDC), youth and women leaders, as well as business ownersin the community, said this when they spoke with newsmen in the community at the weekend.
They described the monumental achievements of the outgoing governor as unprecedented in the annals of the state, saying that Wike’s footprints would remain indelible in the minds of the people of the state.
In his submission, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Sir Fidelis Okuru, said that the Wike-led administration passionately defended the interest of the state, even in the face of serious opposition, adding that the valuable assets and resources belonging to the state have been recovered through bravery, resilience, and courage, which has left the state more developed than before.
He called on the incoming Governor, Sir SiminialayiFubara, to sustain the records and even surpass the milestones already made by ushering in a new era of fast-pace economic development, peace and security of the state.
The people, however, advised the incoming administration to continue to sustain the already established peace and security by synergizing with relevant agencies to do the needful.
They also called on the youths of the state to ensure they give the incoming governor the necessary support he deserves so that he could leave a legacy of inclusive and accelerated development of the state where no one is left behind.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
