University Don Call For Standardisation Of Nigerian Universities
Nigerian leaders have been charged to ensure the Standardisation of all universities in the country, if they wish to get different innovative creative results.
Speaking during the 34th Convocation Lecture with the topic, Nigerian Universities and Leadership Value Proposition: Having Graduates Worthy in Character and Learning, held at the Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu Oroworukwo, last Thursday in Port Harcourt, the Guest Lecturer, a Professor, at University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Joseph Ajienka, said that one cannot expect to get different results when one continues to do the same thing.
Ajienka added that universities are established in pursuit of the eternal truth as such is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world.
He stressed the need for lecturers and students to be found worthy in character and in learning, Nigerian Universities must be above board to ensure a true leadership for responsible citizens.
“We cannot continue to do the same thing and expect better results. As a lecturer, you cannot continue to lecture students with the same equipment that were used in the analogue age.
“Today everything is digitalised, as such it is expected that every one upgrades to meet up with the generation gap challenges. This is why there is need for lecturers as well as universities in Nigeria to be above board in lectures, learning and in character,” the Prof added.
He maintained that the purpose of education must be strictly followed, while itemising this purpose as: To imbibe knowledge, enlightenment, aquire skills, develop attitudinal change, among others.
