Rumuepirikom Flyover, Eloquent Testimony Of Promise Fulfilled -Ariolu
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Barrister George Ariolu, has said that the construction of Rumuepirikom flyover by the Governor Nyesom Wike administration was an eloquent testimony of promise fulfilled.
He explained that Nigeria lacks those with political prowess and integrity to successfully manage the affairs of the nation.
Ariolu spoke at the inauguration of the 8th flyover bridge (Rumuepirikom), last Wednesday, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He commended the governor for not playing into the hands of those who do not believe in the existence of integrity in leadership.
According to Ariolu, Wike has once again written his name in gold through the construction and inauguration of the Rumuepirikom flyover bridge.
He said history and posterity would always remember his achievements even after the end of his tenure in office.
In his remarks, Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, said, what Nigeria needs was a progressive country where the common interest of the people would be protected and preserved.
He clarified that “political party is a vehicle that takes you to your destination, after which you alight and focus on governance”, stressing that governance does not recognise party; rather, it was for everyone, both the supporters and opposition.
He reiterated that there was no law stating that he must only invite those of same political party with him to commission projects in the state.
He said inviting those from the opposition party was an opportunity to showcase the achievements of his administration and the PDP in the state.
Wike, who appreciated Rivers people for their patience and sacrifices during the construction of the flyover, charged Julius Berger PLC to embark on the immediate completion of all internal roads in Rumuepirikom community, stressing that the contract had been awarded by the state government.
The Chief Executive Officer used the occasion to apologise to former governor of Edo State for working against his candidate, Ize-Iyamu, expressing regrets over the re-election of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State in September, 2020.
Speaking further, Wike revealed that he and other PDP chieftains celebrated the removal of the former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) boss as national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Performing the inauguration of the 8th flyover constructed by the administration of Wike, former governor of Edo State and immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams AliyuOshiomhole, lauded Wike for the many beautiful projects in Rivers State, saying results were stubborn and don’t lie.
Oshiomhole, who backed Wike and the G5 Governors in their quest for justice, equity and fairness in the PDP, pointed out that leadership was about character and not about making agreements that won’t be kept.
According to him, the Asaba Declaration by governors across party divides was on their own free will, and they were united on where the next president should come from.
