LG Boss Bags Chieftaincy Title For Peace Initiative
The people of Unyeada kingdom in Andoni Local Government Area has conferred on the chairman of the local government area, Barr Erastus Awortu a chieftaincy title known as Ogu Ibot Esu 1 of Obololand.
The chieftaincy title which was conferred on him by the Paramount Ruler of the Community and member of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Israel U. Otuowo described the council chairman as a peace maker in the land of Obololand.
Speaking while coronating the chairman, king Otuowo said Erastus has done what the past council chairmen found it very difficult to do in the history of Andoni.
According to him, if not Erastus Awortu, Andoni and indeed Obololand would had been a deserted area following the high rate of killings and destruction of properties by cult groups in the area.
“Many Andoni communities would have turned to desert due to cult related violence and communal clashes then.
“At a time people were no more coming home, houses were destroyed on daily basis, prominent people, women and youths were geometrically reduced in their numbers until God sent Erastus Awortu to bring peace without bias
.”Erastus, you worth cerebrating in Obololand, you shown genuine leadership, you also differentiate yourself from others, today, I and the people of Unyeada are receiving you with a chieftaincy title as the great peace maker 1 of Obololand.
This Chieftaincy title is not just a mere political recognition, but a title that will still honoured by the entire Obololand people even after your tenure of office as chairman of Andoni local government area. “ He said.
Addressing the people, the new Chief and Chairman Andoni LGA, Chief Erastus Awortu thanked the people of Unyeada kingdom for the honour accorded him.
According to him, the people of Unyeada and entire Obololand had surprised him, saying that the honour will spured him to do more for peace and development of Andoni.
He charged the people to see peace as the alternative to achieve greatness and developments.
He promised the completion of ongoing 200 metres road and bridge linking Unyeada main town and Usabamun axis of the community soon.
The council chairman used the medium to thank the youths of Obololand for accepting the peace with their whole heart, confirming that no single gun shot or cult-related violence was recorded since inception of his administration.
He, said he would continue carry the youths along in the scheme of things.
