Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, his predecessor and incumbent Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Seriake Dickson, and the National Vice Chairman, South-South of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Dan Orbih, were among notable personalities that condoled with the Omemu and Dakoru families over the death of their mother, Late Madam Ajua Roseline Dakoru.
Conveying the condolences of the government and people of the state to the bereaved families at a funeral service at Odoni Community in the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, weekend, Governor Diri described late Madam Ajua Dakoru, as an illustrious daughter of the State.
Diri, who spoke through his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, noted that the various testimonies of those who were close to the deceased, pointed to her kindness and God-fearing attitude towards people.
According to the Bayelsa State Chief Executive, what was more significant in a person’s life consisted not in the number of years lived, but rather the impact one leaves behind at the end of one’s sojourn on earth.
Stressing that true consolation could only come from the Creator to mankind, the Governor prayed God to comfort and strengthen the families on their bereavement.
In his message of condolence, Senator Dickson described the late Madam Ajua Dakoru as a devout Christian, who contributed immensely to the growth of the Bayelsa State Council for Arts and Culture.
The former Bayelsa Governor, who was represented at the occasion by the PDP Caucus Chairman of Sagbama LGA, Hon. Fyneman Wilson, noted that though the deceased passed on at an advanced age of 80 years, he received the news about her demise with shock because of the impactful life she lived.
On his part, the PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih, also described the diseased as a “pragmatic definition of a virtuous woman, who raised her children in the fear of God.”
Orbih urged the family and her children to take solace in the knowledge that their mother’s “firm faith in God and service to humanity had already guaranteed her eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord”.
Speaking on behalf of the families, Son of the deceased and the PDP Secretary, South-South, Chief Felix Omemu, expressed gratitude to the State Government and all those who contributed to the successful burial of his mother.
The Tide gathered that the diseased, who passed on 14th of July, 2022, started her civil service career with the defunct Bendel State Government, and later moved to the Old Rivers State, finally retired as an Assistant Director with the Bayelsa State Council for Arts and Culture in 2013.
