African Table Tennis Champion Maintains 14th position
Reigning African table tennis champion, Quadri Aruna, retained his No.14 spot in the current International Table Tennis Federation World Ranking for men’s singles, The Tidesports source report.
The 33-year-old churned 1715 points to maintain his position as Africa’s top ranked table tennis player for the month of October.
Egypt’s Omar Assar is ranked 23rd in the world and second in Africa with 975 points, while Ahmed Saleh is placed 67th – third in Africa with 308 points.
Senegal’s Ibrahima Diaw is ranked 77th in the world and fourth on the continent, having with chalked up 282 points. Mehdi Bouloussa from Algeria, who dropped one place to 86th, completes the top five players in Africa, after earning 206 points.
Taiwo Mati dropped one place in the latest ranking to 95.
The 17-year-old, who gained 64 steps up the ladder in last month’s ITTF ranking following his semi-final finish at the ITTF competition, chalked up 190 in the month under review.
Bode Abiodun and Olajide Omotayo also retained their 121st and 125nd position respectively, just as duo Azeez Solanke and Rilwan Akanbi in 223rd and 326th places respectively.
