One Year In Office: We’ve Embarked On Life-Changing Projects -Lloyd
The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State,Dr Chidi Lloyd,has said that his one year in office has witnessed several life-touching projects, ranging from construction of primary healthcare centre,public convenience, provision of potable water, access roads and installation of transformers, among others.
Lloyd stated this,last Friday, at Emohua, the headquarters of Emohua Local Governnment Area, while rendering account of stewardship to his people,as part of his one year in office programme, as council chairman.
The chairman, who said he has been able to strengthen the revenue base of the council through deliberate prudent policies,which paid off, resulting to improved infrastructure, expressed satisfaction with his achievements.
According to him,a critical look at the council’s financial standing during the period under review shows that his administration was able to raise the revenue profile of the council by 300percent,as compared to previous administrations.
“It is worthy to state that the IGR of the council improved by more than 300percent compared to what existed when we assumed office. The improvement in the IGR was a result of our deliberate policy to strengthen the revenue administration of our revenue generation by expanding the revenue base, blocking revenue leakages and improving revenue collections,”the chairman explained.
A breakdown of the figures indicate that a total of N3, 303,966,509.60 was received from the Federation Account,while N28,231,426.61 came from Internally Generation Revenue (IGR).
This brings the total revenue that accrued the council to N3,333,197,936.21.
The chairman said his administration spent 33.3percent of the total revenue on capital projects,while 28.7percent was for recurrent expenditure.
The chairman said he embarked on several capital projects,which includes 1.4km road with drainages, neighbourhood potable water scheme, procurement and installation of 500KVA at four communities in the area.
Other projects, he said include, installation of ATM gallery,300KVA transformer for the council to guarantee steady power supply,as well as establishment of Emohua Local Vigilante group to step up security in the area.
The chairman also said that his administration has declared zero tolerance to illegal oil bunkering in the area, noting that the decision has improved the flora and fauna of the area.
He equally attributed part of his success to non-interference by the state government,ably led by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Lloyd pointed out that he created conducive environment for business to strive in the area, hence the milestone achieved so far.
He thanked the security agencies, especially the Army for the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the area.
He assured his people of better days as they go into the next phase of his administration.
