SBMC Begins LG Advocacy, Sensitisation Visit In Rivers
The State School Based Management Committee (SBMC) steering committee of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB) led by its state chairman Dr Soborikor Lebura, has commenced a state wide advocacy and sensitisation campaign to the Kalabari zone of the state as part of its mandate towards ensuring that the right structures and programmes to cement the establishment of SBMC across the state are put in place.
The aim of the campaign is to acquaint both internal and external stakeholders about the role and importance of SBMC in our schools.
The committee is currently engaging with LGA SDs, LGA SBMC Desk Officers, School SBMC Chairmen and Headteachers.
Other members of the committee present yesterday were the AOPSHON Chairperson in the state, Comrade Mrs Eucharia Wali, ANCOPPS state secretary Comrade Tobin Mical, committee secretary, Mr Bright Ogbonna, Rivers West Rp Mr Remington Waribokor and the Supervising Directors of Degema, Asari- Toru and Akuku- Toru Local Government Areas.
SBMC is the acronym of School Based Management Committee.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
