Police Arrest Four, Kill Two Kidnappers In Rivers

Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested four kidnap suspects terrorising the inhabitants of Egwi-Etche and environs of Etche Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by the command’s Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, in Port Harcourt, yesterday, said luck ran out of them when they abducted one Pastor Jeremiah Atelibo of Salvation Ministries Church, Port Harcourt on February 28, 2022, adding that operatives using artificial intelligence were able to locate and storm their hideout and arrested four suspects.
The statement named the suspects as Barisi Yikes age 31 years; Chinedu Simeon age 28 years; Justice Obodo age 32 years; and Jeffrey age 28 years; were arrested.
According to the statement, the victim was successfully rescued unhurt, adding that a locally made pistol with three live cartridges was recovered from them, among other exhibits.
The statement further said one Karibo Awantaye, ‘m’ a Bolt driver, who was kidnapped along Eneka Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on March 19, 2022 has been rescued by the police.
The statement said that the police swung into action and the kidnappers were traced and given a hot chase, adding that the kidnappers, on sighting the police, engaged them in a gun duel.
It added that two of the suspects were fatally wounded while the victim was rescued unhurt.
“Along with his Toyota Corolla vehicle with Registration No AKD 914 DL, also the ransom money and other assorted charms were equally recovered at the scene.
“Efforts are on to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects”, the statement added.
