RSG Opens Bid For Purchase Of Former NDDC Building …As Two Firms Jostle To Acquire Property
The Rivers State Government has opened the bid for the purchase of former headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) also known as Harold Dappa-Biriye House at Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
The bid was open in the presence of experts and other stakeholders in the state.
Two companies have bided for the purchase of the house.
The companies are Afermich Nigeria Limited and Occeanville Nigeria Limited.
The relocation of the NDDC to its new headquarters in Marine Base,Rivers State Government decided to put up the building for sale.
Consequently, an advertorial inviting potential bidders for the building was on January 28, 2022 published in three national papers.
Speaking during the opening of the bid, Commissioner for Housing, Elder TasieChineduNwobueze said the tenders’ board would evaluate the technical competences of the bidders and communicate same to the Rivers State Executive Council and the Bureau for Public Procurement.
He said, thereafter, the winner would be invited for documentation by the board.
The commissioner described the process as very transparent, adding that the situation has satisfied the conditions listed by the Rivers State Procurement Law.
Also speaking, Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry,Ibutonye Peter said the process was inline with the procurement law of the state.
The permanent secretary, who was also chairman of the ministry’s Tenders’Board, said the board would assess the bidders’ technical competences and evidence of tax payment.
In an interview with newsmen, Mr. Elson Adeboye of Occeanville Nigeria Limited and MalachyOnah of Afermich Nigeria Limited declared the process as fair and transparent.
