LG Boss Gives Grant To Indigent Students
Chairman of Andoni Local Government Council, Mr Erastus Awortu, has unveiled an education support for 2022 Law graduates and Linguistics (French) students from the council area.
Awortu made this known in Port Harcourt, shortly after announcing the one year education grant for the selected indigent students of the area.
Awortu stated that the act was in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign to the people of the area.
According to him, the gesture was aimed at assisting the beneficiaries to pursue their careers and achieve their respective academic goals.
“The package was a financial assistance to the Law graduates shortlisted for the 2022 session of Nigerian Law School. The education grant will also cover support for the indigent Linguistics students who shall be proceeding for a French internship programme in Togo,” he said.
TheTide recalled that the council chairman, on assumption of office announced an all-expense paid scholarship for 15 students in Charkin’s Maritime Institute.
The two-year programme when completed, would enable the students become employable in the maritime industry, thereby addressing the challenges of unemployment in the area.
Reaffirming his commitment to sustainable development, Awortu said he would leave no stone unturned in his quest for human capacity development for youths in the local communities.
While urging the beneficiaries to take advantage of the support to leverage their studies, Awortu charged the students to shun violence as the country prepares for a new democratic dispensation.
Awortu further urged them to take advantage of the continuous voter registration to be able to exercise their franchise in the 2023 general elections.
