Gunmen Kidnap LG Boss, As PH Township Residents Scamper
Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the chairman of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, Philemon Kingoli.
Kingoli was abducted in the early hours of Wednesday along the Peter Odili Road axis of Port Harcourt, the State capital.
The circumstances leading to his kidnap could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
It was gathered that the abductors are yet to make any contact nor demand any ransom to free the council chairman.
Spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed Kingoli’s kidnap, yesterday morning, saying everything was being done to ensure his early release.
In a separate development, two persons were shot dead on Wednesday night between Victoria Street and Bende Street in the old Port Harcourt township in what is suspected to be a cult attack.
Omoni said he was yet to get details of the killings in the old Port Harcourt township and promised to get back after contacting the Divisional Police Officer.
In another development, gunmen suspected to be cultists have murdered two residents of Port Harcourt township in cold blood.
A source who spoke with current matters said the incident occurred at Victoria Street by Ben Harry Hotel, Aggrey Road on Wednesday night.
The development according to the source, caused fear and panic among the residents making some of them to run for their dear lives
A popular businessman, identified as “Mr Dike, “was one of the victims of the bloody war that lasted for over two hours.
Meanwhile, the state police command has deployed some policemen to the area to maintain law and order.
The Tide source reports cult induced killings are steadily overwhelming the city of Port Harcourt lately.
Incidents of clashes are reported weekly these days with high death toll.
