Fans Hail Enyimba, Unhappy With Other Flagbearers
Football fans in Nigeria have praised Nigeria Professional Football League side Enyimba International after their 1-0 win over Rahimo FC in the CAF Champions League Preliminary Round on Sunday while slamming other campaigners, Plateau United, Kano Pillars and Rivers United for losing their games.
Plateau United will be walking a tight rope when they visit Tanzanian side, Simba FC in the second leg of their game this weekend at the 60,000 capacity National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
CAF Confederations Cup campaigner, Kano Pillars have a long hill to climb after losing 3-1 to Senegalese side, Jaraaf FC, while Rivers United will be hoping to overturn the 1-0 loss away at Futuro Kings.
“Enyimba showed why they are seasoned canpaigners on the continent and deserved to be seen as one of the leading sides in Nigeria, wrote one fan, Ade Otun on Twitter.
Yunus Ibrahim on Twitter also shared his admiration for the Aba based team, “Enyimba have proved themselves as the best team in the NPFL after Pillars, Plateau United and Rivers United failed to win their opening games in the first leg matches.”
“Let’s accept it. The main football club we have in Nigeria at this time is Enyimba, others are just playing catch up. How do you lose to a club from Tanzania and you’re supposedly the country’s best team from the previous season It is very disappointing. It is already over for Plateau United and Kano Pillars but Rivers United can conjure a win in Port Harcourt. Apart from Enyimba, those other teams were below par and disappointing,” Oloyede Abiodun an IT expert said.
“Every season the fate of Nigerian teams are always placed on Enyimba alone. Why do we have four teams and the only club doing their job is Enyimba.

Iwobi Optimistic On S’Eagles Qualification
Iwobi spoke to Tidesports source ahead of Nigeria’s crunch playoff semi-final against Gabon on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.
The 28-year-old was reacting to Nigeria’s shaky World Cup qualifying campaign that saw the Eagles finish second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
“We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead,” Iwobi told Tidesports source.
We know we have the players and the abilities to compete against any other country in the world.”
The Fulham star pointed to Nigeria’s star power, highlighting African Footballer of the Year winners Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen as proof of the squad’s quality.
“We have last year’s African best player (Ademola Lookman), the year before that (Victor Osimhen),” he said.
“It’ll be a shame if we don’t make it, but we have a lot of confidence. We just have to prove it to ourselves.”
Nigeria’s path to the United States, Canada and Mexico has been turbulent, with two coaches departing during the early stages of qualifying before Éric Chelle steadied the ship to steer the Super Eagles into November’s CAF playoffs.
Four nations from the continent – Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo and Gabon – will vie for a solitary spot to compete in next March’s inter-confederation playoffs, with a view to joining the already nine qualified African nations at the Finals.
It would mark Iwobi’s second appearance at the World Cup Finals and the Super Eagles’ first since the 2018 edition of the competition.
Back then, Iwobi featured in all three games as Nigeria was knocked out in the group stage.
