Gombe Plans Improved Almajiri Education
Commissioner for Education, Gombe State, Dr Habu Dahiru, has said the state is working to standardise the education of Almajiri children through the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies.
Dahiru disclosed yesterday in Gombe, adding that the partnership would boost the capacity of each participant to make them productive.
He said, “With this they (Almajiri) can now further their studies by obtaining higher degrees. It is not just enough to say we are introducing Qur’anic tsanya education.
“We are integrating it with the formal, providing syllabus and getting quality assurance supervision and conduct of examination by the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies. So, on completion they will issue them certificates stating they have gone through this programme. The certificate will be acceptable for work or further studies.”
