Rivers Assembly Promises To Support Ministry’s Advocacy Campaign
The Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani has said that the 9th Assembly is on the same page with the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications over its on going advocacy campaign to rebrand the state.
The Speaker, who said this during “Our/State/ Our Responsibility advocacy visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim said, as representatives of the people, the legislators would work to ensure that the campaign goes beyond the confines of their offices.
Ibani also urged the permanent secretary to ensure that the campaign does not end with him, adding that Rivers people must join Governor Wike to tell the world that the state is safe for investment.
The speaker also used the occasion to call on youths in the state to desist from further engagement in violent activities.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary said the visit was to inform the Assembly of “Our State, Our Responsibility” advocacy campaign designed to make everyone living and doing business in the state to know that Rivers State belongs to them.
Nsirim said, Rivers State is fortunate to have a visionary leader who has come to right the wrongs of the past, adding that in the past four years, the infrastructural deficit of the state has been changed.
He said, as the headquarters of the hydrocarbon industry in Nigeria, Rivers State is blessed with potentials for investments.
He, however, expressed regrets that persons who belong to the vocal minority have consistently painted the state black.
Nsirim stressed the need for partnership with the Assembly to change the narrative about the state and commended the lawmakers for their quality representations within the last four years.
