IAUOE Defies ASUU Strike, Resumes Lectures
The authorities of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE) Rumuolumeni, Rivers State have announced the resumption of academic lectures from Monday January 28,2019 amidst the ongoing nation-wide strike by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU).
By this development, the university has backed out from the ASUU strike, there by joining her sister state university, (RSU) in this direction.
The registrar of the institution, Dr (Mrs) Hope Kue-Ikoro in a circular dated 24/1/2019 and addressed to all the deans, HODs and lecturers said lectures will commence on Monday 28, 1, 2019
The circular further stated that the on-going registration exercise for all students continues and will end on Friday February 15, 2019, while matriculation ceremony for fresh students will be held on Saturday April 27, 2019.
According to the statement “examinations for the first semester will begin from Monday 13, 2019 and end on Friday May 31, 2019 and advised all staff and students of the institution to adhere strictly to the revised academic calendar for first semester 2018/2019 session”.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
