Group Moves To Promote Peace, Unity In Okrika
The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Wakirike Unity Choir concert, Pastor Iyoloma Tomquin has said that arrangement have been concluded to organise the second edition of the event.
He stated that the concert would feature 1000 choral voices from different denominations within Wakirike kingdom with a view to promoting peace and unity in the kingdom.
This was contained in a statement signed by him, which was made available to The Tide news, yesterday. According to group, the Wakirike Unity Concert will also featur ‘The Big Sing’ congressional Hymns, classical songs, Wakirike folk songs and gospel music.
According to the statement, the major objective of the event is to foster the existing peace and unity within Wakirike communities.
“The main goal of the concert is to foster unity among all Wakirike communities, that this powerful show of unity will speak where words fail and unite the various religious, political and community factions” he said.
The statement further explained one of the reasons of the event was to bring together the people of Wakirike kingdom to speak in one voice.
” We are optimistic that this event will bring together our clergies, traditional rulers, members of the Executive, Judiciary and Legislative arms of government and everybody in the kingdom.
Honestly, with the support of Wakirike people and the general public we can present the upgraded version of the Kirikeni Okwein App to make it easier for Wakirike people all over the world to learn our language” h stated.
The LOC chairman used the forum to invite the general public to attend the event, most especially the immediate neighbours of Okrikans , like the Ikwerres, Ogonis, Elemes, Kalabaris and the Igbanis.
