Monarch, Commissioner Want Ogbia People To Embrace God
A prominent traditional ruler in Bayelsa State, King Dumaro Charles Owaba has called on Bayelsans, particularly the people of Ogbia Local Government to draw close to God and live peacefully with one another. King Owaba who is the Obanobhan 111 of Ogbia Kingdom came out with this on Monday at the headquarters of the local government at a three day Ogbia for Christ Crusade with the theme: Ogbia Must Be Free.
Represented by the National President of Ogbia Brotherhood, Chief Benson Agadaga, the monarch said those who put their trust in the Lord are never disappointed.
He commended the organisers of the crusade, saying it is important to once again rededicate Ogbia Kingdom to God and appeal to all sons and daughters of the land to identify with the ongoing religious programe.
Speaking also at the event, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson said the crusade would signpost a new beginning for Ogbia Kingdom.
While also thanking the organisers, Iworiso-Markson encouraged them not to be dismayed, stressing that only God can redeem the lives of the people.
He said: “This is the land of my birth and whatever program that will develop the people and the land I want to identify with it. That is why I have come here today to join in the prayers of our kingdom. This land must be developed and God will help us.
On her part, convener of the crusade, Mrs Ethel Diete-Siff said after many years of efforts to bring attention and development to Ogbia, the Lord placed a deep impression on her heart to pray over the land. She explained that the strategic importance of Oloibiri to the nation’s growth could not have escaped the attention of hostile elements both spiritual and physical and therefore will be naive on the part of the people to assume that such forces will sit back and watch Ogbia prosper in peace.
