Rivers Lawmakers Drum Support For Wike
Last week, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani joined other thousands of supporters of the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the “One Million Youths for New Rivers State” walk in Andoni Local Government Area.
Ibani together with members representing Ahoada-East, Hon. Edison Ehie and Hon. Major Jack including House of Representatives members for Andoni/Opobo Nkoro Federal Constituency, Hon. Awaji-Inobek Abiante and Chairman of the council, Elijah Elijah.
Others who joined in the “One million Youths” walk included, Emelia Nte and Assembly aspirant, Hon. Oworte walked through major roads at Ngo town headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area.
After the walk to Agwat Obolo and back to Ngo town, the speaker told newsmen that he was impressed with the huge turn-out, saying “it’s a confirmation of the good works of the state governor and the confidence the people have for him to continue”.
Ibani affirmed that the walk has shown that Andoni Local Government Area is solidy behind the aspiration and government of Chief Wike-led administration.
On their part, leaders of the “One Million Youths for New Rivers State,” Hon. Ehie and Hon. Jack expressed satisfaction over what they described as “huge support for NEW in Andoni Local Government Area.”
Jack stated that the crowd was unprecedented coupled with the fact that, the area is riverine and rural, but the people came out in huge numbers.
For Ehie, the success of the walk confirms that Andoni is PDP and ready to defend their vote come 2019.
The Ahoada-born legislator warned that the youths of Rivers State would not tolerate any scheme to upturn their avowed support for Wike.
The legislator further lamented that the youths are tired of the APC-led Federal government, as he listed the numerous projects and achievements of the PDP in the state.
Ehie therefore, urged the youths to ensure that the APC-led federal government is booted out in 2019, and expressed confidence that the PDP will take over the federal and state to reverse the bad policies and hardship meted on Nigerians
Member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiante was full of praises for the organizers of the walk, as he submitted that Andoni is 100% for Wike and for PDP.
Abiante used the event to call on the people of the area to remain steadfast in their support for the PDP.
The federal legislator assured that lots of dividends await the constituency, as they pitch their tent with the ruling party in Rivers State.

LP Crisis: Ex-NWC Member Dumps Dumps Abure Faction
Mr Ojukwu, who recently returned to the interim National Working Committee led by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, noted that the party had 34 elected members in the House of Representatives, eight Senators, and 80 members at the state Houses of Assembly after the 2023 general elections.
“Now we lost all of them,” he said. “I don’t think we have as many as five members in the National Assembly.”
The former national officer of the LP talked to journalists in Abuja and said he chose to join the caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi-Usman because they are now the officially recognized leaders of the Party.
“I chose to work with the caretaker committee to help save the Labour Party, for the benefit of the party. I also want to use this chance to ask my colleagues at the national, state, and local government levels to come together and help rebuild our party.
“Another election is around the corner. We lost everything we have. They have left to other political parties. So I’ll reach out to all my friends in the other group to get together and work on making this party stronger again.
“The caretaker committee has formed a reconciliation committee. Let’s come together and talk so that we can restore the first opposition political party in Nigeria.”
Mr Ojukwu, who was part of the Julius Abure’s group, said there are no more factions in the LP.
He added, “There is a court ruling, and since it is valid, the right people are in the correct positions.”
He urged Barr Abure and others to drop the legal cases they have filed because they are not helping the party.
“Litigations are killing political parties”, he said. “They’ve seen many political parties disappear because of legal battles, and the Labor Party is losing support every day, which makes me feel sad.”
Mr Ojukwu said he did not think joining the Senator Nenadi-Usman’s NWC was a betrayal of the Abure group, describing himself as “the oxygen” of that faction.
“I’m with this group because of the verdict. But I never betrayed anybody. Rather, I was betrayed,” he added.
