FUTO Begins Construction Of New Hostels
The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has comenced the construction of four new hostels for students of the school.
This was made known by the Vice-Chancellor of the school, Prof Francis Eze during the 36th matriculation ceremony at the convocation ground last weekend.
Eze explained that the major reason why the present school hostel is in a poor state is that the students have deliberately refused to clean the environment and display laziness towards the maintenance of the facilities provided for them.
The VC called on the parents to advise their children, “we need to also talk to our students because sometimes, we see unnecessary laziness particularly among the female students”, Prof Eze said.
He further disclosed that the school authority provided mosquitoes nets to prevent malaria, but after one week the nets were taken off by the same students, saying that parents and guardians need to talk to their wards while they are in school, the institution is doing her best to make the students comfortable.
However, some people who spoke at the occasion stated that the execution of the project was not moving as fast as it should due to lack of fund, “because it not easy to exhort money from the university and do it the way we want”.
