FRSC Deploys 1,200 For Road Safety
The Rivers State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has deployed over 1,200 personnel to mount guard on the roads accident-free Easter celebration in the state.
The Sector Commander, Mr. Imoh Etuk said this last Wednesday in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt.
Etuk said apart from the deployment of the Safety Corps members, the Command also embarked on safety awareness to all road users to ensure accident free movements before, during and after the Easter period.
He called on road users, especially the motorists to comply with all safety rules in line with the directive of the command to avoid any harassment on the roads.
“We have deployed 1,200 persons to mount guard on the roads this Easter period We’ve also put in place the necessary mechanism to check and ensure safety on roads.
“We therefore warn all motorist to comply with all necessary safety rules to avoid any obstruction on their journeys this Easter period.
“We are not going to tolerate over-loading overspeeding, and reckless driving on the roads. We also used this medium to inform all motorists that the command will not spare any driver without all the ynecessary safety requirement including drivers licensed”, the Commander warned.
The FRSC boss also called on motorists and the public to report any member of the command who collects bribe on the road, saying that the command would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any member who engages in illegal activities on the road.
Etuk assured adequate safety on the road, especially this Easter period.
He advised drivers against the use of alcohol and drugs while driving, saying that the command also put in place measures to checkmate drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs while driving.
