Etche Group Roots For Wike, Anyanwu
A group known as Etche Liberation Movement (ELM) has unanimously endorsed Governor Nyesom Wike for a second term in office, while also declaring their support for Obinna Anyanwu for the Etche council’s chairmanship seat at a gathering of the group in Ulakwo at the weekend.
One after the other, speakers from all the 19 wards that make up Etche local government area explained their resolve to queue behind Governor Wike and Obinna Anyanwu, saying the duo have all it takes to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
In what would go down as the first time in the local government’s history, Barrister John Otamiri took an affirmation call from the gathering and the result was unanimous yes for both Governor Wike and Obinna Anyanwu.
The Director-General of the Movement, Promise Nwankwo described Governor Wike as “Professor of Projects,” who he says has proven beyond doubts about his commitment to the peace and progress of the state.
He stressed that the governor has given the people of Etche a sense of belonging, especially in the areas of appointment and projects, pointing that they have never had it so good under any administration.
According to him, Wike deserves the total support of Etche people regardless of party affiliation, insisting that the best way to reward a performing governor is to vote him for a second term to do more.
Nwankwo also stated that their resolve to call on Obinna Anyanwu to vie for the council chairmanship seat is anchored on his leadership skills, maturity, loyalty to the people and ability to deliver on tasks.
The ELM DG disclosed that they were ready to mobilise Etche people to vote for both Wike and Anyanwu should they accede to their requests to vie for the two offices.
Several other speakers including Sam Nwafor (Igboh clan), Kingsley Obilor (Mba), Stephen Obi (Okehi), Prince Wakanma (Odufor) and Hon Eddyson Nwala (Ulakwo) all paid glowing tributes to the performance of Governor Wike in office and particularly, the recognition he has given the people of Etche in appointments and projects.
