AFBA Confab Delegates Commend RSG’s Successes
The African Bar Association (AFBA) 2017 Conference came to an end last weekend with some delegates pouring accolades on the Rivers State Government for the success recorded at the week-long conference.
They specifically praised the security, organisation and hospitality during the conference.
One of the participants and Financial Secretary of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Akwa Ibom State, Nkechi Uduma, said she was delighted with the way the conference was organised, and lauded the state governor for partnering with AFBA to make the event a success.
She said, “We are very delighted because it’s a privilege to have the conference here in Nigeria; and I am happy Rivers State Government partnered. They need to be commended for bringing this conference to Nigeria. We want it to happen again.”
Uduma, who was one of the delegates from her branch, said the conference also provided platform for FIDA to partner with AFBA in advancing the rights of women in Africa.
The Akwa Ibom State FIDA financial secretary stated that collaboration with AFBA will help in providing free legal services to victims, and in sharing ideas on how women and the girl child rights could be promoted in different countries.
Another delegate, Ezike Vincent Amadi, said the success of the conference has shown that Wike was a true lawyer.
Amadi described the conference as epic and well coordinated, saying, “It has set a standard for NBA Conference here in Nigeria.”
On his part, a delegate from Cameroun, Ndah Andang, commended the Rivers State governor and other prominent delegates for speaking against the oppression of the people of Southern Cameroun.
Andang, who has been on asylum in Nigeria since last year, was optimistic that the conference will drive their plea across the world.
On his perception of Port Harcourt and its environs, he said, “I must confess that Port Harcourt is promising, receptive and very hospitable. I think I will make a second visit to see places I have not seen before.”
