Again, Wike Bags Grassroots Dev Award
Basking in the euphoria of the recent awards by two leading national newspapers in Nigeria, the SUN and Daily Independent, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has been presented with yet another award, the “Best Grassroots Performing Governor in Nigeria” Award by the United Kingdom-based African Leadership Magazine.
Speaking while presenting the award at Government House, Port Harcourt, the Regional Director of the African Leadership Magazine, Dr. Ugo Ezimako, said the award was presented to Wike following an online polls and onsite inspection of both completed and on–going projects executed by the governor.
Ezimako disclosed that some of the projects inspected include Abuloma-Woji Road, Industry Road, New Road Borokiri, Bille–Bonny–Nembe Jetty as well as some roads in Diobu axis, and congratulated the governor for his outstanding achievements within a short period in office.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, the state Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, said the negative media propaganda about Rivers State was not a true reflection of events in the state.
She stated that the state government under Wike was focused and works without looking back, and commended the Editors of the African Leadership Magazine for undertaking not only a comprehensive online survey but also onsite inspection of projects being executed by the Rivers State Government.
The deputy governor urged the African Leadership Magazine to continue to be good ambassadors of the state and tell the truth about their findings to the outside world contending that Rivers State is safe, secure and a place for investment.
According to her, the conducive security environment in the state has resulted in the holding of international, regional and national conferences and seminars in the state, and commended the African Leadership Magazine, United Kingdom for recognizing the visionary leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike to give Rivers State a new meaning.
The governor was also presented with a magazine entitled, “Rivers Beyond Politics”, and a Resolution by the State of Georgia in the United States of America.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has felicitated with Governor Nyesom Wike for bagging another international award by the African Leadership Magazine, United Kingdom as the “Best Grassroots Performing Governor in Nigeria.”
Speaking in a statement at Government House, Port Harcourt, Banigo, who described the award as well deserved said while enemies of the state are bent on destroying the only heritage of Rivers people, Wike has continued to receive both local and international awards in recognition of his visionary leadership.
Banigo expressed gratitude to God for blessing Rivers State with Wike, who was determined to transform the state in all the sectors, and called on Rivers people to remain supportive to the present administration in the state, to enable it deliver on all its campaign promises.
The deputy governor commended the African Leadership Magazine for being objective in its assessment of the governor and for recognizing the fact that Wike is a performer and not a man of many words, just like some desperate politicians.
