The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has praised the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wkie, for dedicating the 56th Independence anniversary celebration to the commissioning and flag-off of development projects with direct impacts on the people.
Banigo also expressed deep appreciation to the people of Rivers State for turning out en-masse for the activities marking Nigeria’s 56th Independence anniversary celebration held at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt.
In a statement, issued at Government House, Port Harcourt, the deputy governor further commended members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the police, para-military and voluntary youth organisations as well as school children for their active participation in the Independence Day march-pass.
She noted that Governor Nyesom Wike’s dedication of the Independence anniversary celebration in Rivers State to the commissioning of a number of completed people-oriented projects and flagging-off of new ones was in line with the agenda of the New Rivers Vision.
The deputy governor called on the people of the state to continue to embrace peaceful co-existence and be supportive to the Wike-led administration to ensure that Rivers State is transformed economically and infrastructurally into an enviable status.
Banigo urged the people to keep faith with Nigeria as the economic and other challenges currently facing the country would soon be a thing of the past, and lauded security operatives for an effective security of the state throughout the period of the Independence celebration.
