RSUST Inducts 121 BMLS Graduands
The Department of Medi
cal Laboratory Science and Technology (MLST) of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) has inducted a total of 121 graduands into the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSON).
While congratulating the inductees in her address, Head of Department of MLST, Dr Gloria N. Woken noted that they should see themselves as the lucky ones out of “so many who started the journey with you years back”.
The occasion she said which was the 10th induction/oat taking ceremony of the department, is an annual event that marks the official induction, initiation and admission of newly graduated students of B. MLS as members of MLSON.
She used the opportunity to eulogise the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University, Professor Blessing Didia, for making this eition, whch is for the 2014/2015 academic session, possible.
“Worthy of mention is the academic amnesty which has made room for some of our inductees today, who were victims of the past administration, to enjoy induction with others that was the main reason for the delayed induction this year,” the HOD said.
She further expressed appreciation over the VC’s “procurement of needed facilities in the department, which led to it being accredited in 2015”.
In his keynote address, the Acting Registrar of MLSC of Nigeria, Mr Tosan Erhabor, expressed delight over the ability of the graduands to make it thus far.
He noted that the induction/oath taking ceremony is mandatory to all MLS graduands before being issued licence to practise.
Erthabor therefore, urged them to adhere to the ethics of the profession.
Earlier, the VC had expressed joy over the successful holding of the event, which he said, was also made possible by the hard work of the graduands.
He charged the inductees to be courteous in the performance of their duties, and to respect their seniors in the prefession.
