Banigo Urges NGOs To Impact Society Positively
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has urged corporate organisations in the state to embark on programmes and activities that would impact the society positively.
Banigo stated this while speaking at the induction ceremony of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt and inauguration of officers.
Represented by her Senior Special Adviser on Administration, Mr. Gilbert Nria, the deputy governor said Rotary Club, as an organisation which brings various professionals together, has maintained a leading role in humanitarian services.
She observed that the activities of the body over the years, have been complementing government efforts in areas such as the eradication of polio, scholarship awards, and called on other organisations to emulate Rotary International in carrying out life touching programmes for the overall benefit of the people.
Earlier in his address, the new President, Rtn. Dan Harrison had said the provision of potable water, sanitation as well as the fight against polio would be the focal point of the new board, and solicited the support of all to enable them achieve set goals.
