Rivers Peaceful, Calm -RSG
The Rivers State Government has said that, the state is one of the most peaceful in the country.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Ogbobula U. Princewill, who said this during a courtesy call by officials of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), added that the state was calm and activities were on-going.
Princewill while assuring the executives of NYCN of the state’s preparedness to host their forthcoming elective congress, also pointed out that their coming to the state was an opportunity to rebrand the perspective of the country on the state.
He noted that Rivers State has been misrepresented to the world as a violent state, but added that through the congress, the world will know that the state is peaceful.
The Commissioner further assured them that the state has a conducive environment to host the youth that would be present from around the country.
Noting that it was the first time the national body of NYCN was visiting the state, Princewill assured that they will not be disappointed.
“the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, is a youth-friendly governor, who has the youth at heart”, he state.
Speaking, the Acting President of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ibukun oluwole, expressed confidence in the ability of the security agencies to maintain the peace in the state.
According to him, their visit to the state has proved critics wrong that Rivers State is in crisis.
Oluwole added that Rivers State has been mandated to host the forthcoming congress elections of the council, which will take place on the 22nd to 24th of July, 2016.
He further urged the Commissioner to always run an all-inclusive government where the youth will be carried along.
He also commended the Rivers State Commissioner for Youth Development for the level of youth development so far achieved, while adding that he will be included on their hall of fame.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Chairman of the National Youth Council, Amb. Sakubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, urged all Rivers youth to give the delegates to the congress rousing welcome, and urged them to learn from what will happen during the elective congress.
Sukubo also adviced the youth to avoid any action that would put the state in bad light.
