C’River Plans Aggressive Revenue Drive
The Cross River State
Ministry of Information says it is embarking on aggressive revenue drive to augment dwindling allocation from the state government.
The Commissioner for Information, Mrs Rosemary Archibong, disclosed this in Calabar in an interview with newsmen recently.
Archibong said that with the continued shortfall in the allocation from the federation account, the ministry had no option than to find alternative ways of sourcing funds to carry out its functions.
“We have to explore every alternative means to raise our revenue profile in order to meet our targets,” she said.
She disclosed that the ministry had a plan to procure and install a new printing press to increase the production output of the state owned newspaper corporation, publisher of the Nigerian Chronicle.
The commissioner said that the printing press would be commercialised to undertake various kinds of printing jobs with a view to generating funds for the ministry and the state government.
She stressed the need for members of staff of the newspaper corporation and the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation to redouble their efforts in the area of marketing.
“We have a large media market in Cross River. There are lots of businesses going on here in Calabar.
“The free trade zone is here as well as other business outlets. We must strategise to maximise all these potentials and raise our revenue profile,” Archibong said.
