RSG Delivers 50 Housing Units …Within Two Months

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike will today commission 50 units housing at the Iriebe new satellite Town in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Emma Okah who conducted newsmen round the apartments said that the development was part of the Government’s commitment towards providing affordable accommodation to the citizenry.
Mr. Okah also said that the situation marks Governor Wike’s desire to provide accommodation to majority of people residing in the State, adding that the most significant of the project was that the flats were started and completed by the Administration within two months of the present Administration.
He also said that, Governor Wike has shown that providing accommodation to 50 Rivers families is a big deal, adding that with the commissioning, the government would go back to the drawing board with a view to reviving other housing estates abandoned by previous administrations in the state.
The Commissioner also said that the Government was also planning to evict all illegal occupants of its hosing estates, stressing that those affected have already been issued with quit notices.
He advised those that will occupy the estate to keep it in good shape adding that plans have been concluded to work with the communities to ensure peace and security in the estate.
Mr. Okah also said that the estate would be hooked to the national grid as soon as possible.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
