C’River, Dev Agency Partner To Boost Industries
The Department of Labour and Productivity, has solicited for partnership with the Department of International Development Cooperation (DIDC), to boost industrial activities and ensure effective service delivery in Cross River State.
The Permanent Secretary, Department of Labour and Productivity, Pastor (Mrs.) Elizabeth U. Etu, disclosed this when she led an advocacy visit to DIDC recently in Calabar.
Etu, who applauded the efforts of DIDC in their intervention programmes in the State, pointed out that, the visit was to discuss possible areas of collaboration in line with the Department of Labour and Productivity’s mandate to ensuring a peaceful industrial climate and promotion of productivity through efficient service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary stated that, a peaceful industrial climate will boost and enhance efficient service delivery, called on the DIDC to consider possible areas of assistance to the Department.
In his response, the Director, Donor Coordination, DIDC, Mr. Michael Mgbekem, assured that, DIDC will partner with the Department of Labour and Productivity to ensure effective and efficient service delivery in the civil and public service.
Mgbekem who gave a brief history of DIDC, said the Department was established in 2009 to coordinate, manage and maintain international partnership and developments in the State, adding that, the main function of the DIDC is to source for international partners to collaborate with MDAs to enhance the developmental aspirations of the State.
He explained that, the Department has achieved a lot in terms of Donor Coordination and international partnership and initiated the idea of close monitoring of all international partnership in the State.
The director reiterated DIDC’s resolve to partner effectively with the Department when the new administration kicks off fully, hinting that, international agencies expected to work closely with the Department of Labour and Productivity were yet to fully commence operations in the State.
