Wike’s Administration, Gender Sensitive -Dep Gov

The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo harry banigo said the appointment of more women into key positions by Governor Nyesom Wike is in keeping with the women empowerment policy of the present administration.
Dr. Banigo stated this when “Titled Women Prayer Association of Nigeria,” led by its national President Chief (Mrs.) Blessing Ekpemiro paid her a courtesy visit in Government House , Port Harcourt.
She noted that the Wike-led administration demonstrated his confidence in women’s capability in his first set of appointments, namely, female Chief Judge and President of Customary Court in the state as well as the Commissioner for Agriculture.
“I assure you that this Government will continue to empower Woman and place them in position they could contribute their quota to the task of development. I think the first appointment we made were all women. The Acting State Chief judge and Acting President of the customary court.” She remarked.
She disclosed plans by the State Government to provide soft loans to market Women in the state and urged women to play their roles as home builders and character moulders specially in the up bringing of the Girl Child so as to check the menace of moral decadence in the society.
“Your position as ‘Titled Woman’ means that God expects much from you as Leaders in your Community. God knows why he called you into that position, he has made you vessels of honour, you don’t allow your oil to dry up”, she asserted.
Earlier, the State Co-ordinator of the Titled Women Payer Association, Rivers State Branch, Chief (Mrs) Lizzy Bob-Manuel expressed confidence in the ability of the Deputy Governor to discharge her duty creditably.
Chief (Mrs.) Bob-Manuel, used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Nyesom Wike and his deputy, Dr. Banigo on their victory in the April elections.
Highlight of the visit was a presentation of a congratulatory card and gifts to the Deputy Governor by the President General of the Association, Chief (Mrs) Blessing Ekpemiro.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
