Wike Flags-Off Oil Mill-Elelenwo-Akpajo Road Dualization
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has stated that his administration will give face-lift of Port Harcourt City priority attention.
Flagging-off the dualization of Oil Mill-Elelenwo-Akpajo road on Friday,
Wike said that construction of major roads in the state capital will help in the development of the economy.
The governor said that finance will not be an impediment to the completion of the Oil Mill-Elelenwo-Akpajo road.
According to the governor, the previous administration played politics with the Oil Mill-Elelenwo-Akpajo, deliberately refusing to construct the major road.
He said : ”It is our priority to give Port Harcourt City a new outlook.
“I decided that Julius Berger must construct this road as a message to those who thought they were punishing the people of Elelenwo “, Wike said.
The governor called on the communities hosting the project to support the construction giant to deliver the project within the agreed date.
He also advised Julius Berger to engage members of the community in areas where their services will be needed.
In his remarks, member, Representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, praised Wike for considering the welfare of the people in his style of governance.
Representative of Julius Berger, Marco Braun, assured that the road will be completed as scheduled.
Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Works, Paulinus Nwankwala, said the new road is 5.56 kilometres in length.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Chairman of Elelenwo Council of Traditional Rulers, Chief Mike Wodi, said that the people were happy that the governor has remembered them when previous administrations chose not to.
