RSUST: Stakeholders Charge Fakae’s Successor On ICT Sustenance
Stakeholders in Rivers
State have called on the successor of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Prof Barineme Fakae, to retain and build on the existing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the learning environment.
The stakeholders who spoke in their various capacities said the ICT initiative in RSUST was one of the prime achievements of the out-going VC, hence, the need to sustain it.
In a chat with The Tide, Wednesday, in Port Harcourt, the President of Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence (NDCAV), Comrade Christian Lekia, said the ICT programme in the school has transformed the system for the better.
He reasoned that if the incoming VC would sustain the IT initiative of Fakae, it would go a long way in making it a top class university in the world.
Lekia, noted that without the smart ICT system in the school, it would have been difficult to record the level of achievements in the area.
According to him, the speed introduced by the system was second to none, saying other higher institutions in the state ought to operate on the same scale.
Another Speaker, Mr Justice Okpara, said the incoming VC should work-out modalities on how to develop more on the ICT system.
He said the platform did not only add beauty to the school system, but discovered a lot of fraudulent acts.
Okpara recalled how in the analogue era students suffered a level of hardship as a result of missing scripts and other academic records.
He explained that then, there was also the issue of improper account, adding that digital payment system has eradicated all.
