60 Benefit From Agbami Scholarship Scheme …Three Bag 1st Class
Sixty beneficiaries re
cently graduated from the Agbami Special Medical and Engineering Scholarship Programme at the 30th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Port Harcourt.
Three out of the 60 beneficiaries made first class honours in Petroleum and Gas Engineering respectively.
Speaking with The Tide shortly after the graduation ceremony, one of the beneficiaries, Aliezi Ugochukwu Sampson who bagged 1st Class in Petroleum Engineering thanked the Agbami Partners for the scholarship and urged other multinational companies to borrow a cue from the Agbami Partners.
Another beneficiary, Fadoyemi Tunji Thomas, who bagged a first class honour in Gas Engineering, said the scholarship programme contributed immensely to his academic success and thanked the Agbami Partners for providing the opportunities.
He called on stakeholders in the educational sector to invest more in academic research. He pointed out that such gesture will boost the intellectual capacity of students especially in engineering to enhance indigenous participation in oil and gas industry in line with the local content policy.
Also speaking, Aminaho Nicholas who bagged a first class honour in Petroleum Engineering, said the Agbami scholarship was a commendable incentive for academic excellence in medicine and engineering.
He called on the Agbami Partners to expand the scholarship scheme, adding that the scholarship would spur him toward greater academic studies. The Agbami Partners Comprise of NNPC, Famfa, Petrol Braz, Start Oil and Star deep a subsidiary of Chevron Nigeria Limited which manages the Agbami field on behalf of the Partners.
