Tolofari Seeks Sustenance Of Monorail Project’
The Rivers State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. George Tolofori has appealed to the incoming government not to abandon the multi-billion Naira Rivers Monorail Project.
Tolofari stated this during the sentforth party organized by the Ministry of Transport for the outgoing commissioner and 23 retirees of the Ministry.
The Commissioner noted that since the project was initiated with tax payers’ money, it would make economic sense if the incoming administration completes the project, adding that when completed, the Rivers Monorail would reduce travel time.
He asked for forgiveness from staff of the Ministry, if he had offended any one in course of carrying out his official duties as a commissioner.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation over the cordial relations that existed between himself, the permanent secretary and the entire staff of the Ministry of Transport.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Nuka Nwikpasi had lauded the humility and other virtues of the commissioner, noting that he had never worked with any commissioner as simple as Tolofari.
Nwikpasi wished the Commissioner well in his future endeavours, and prayed God to open more doors of opportunities for him to serve humanity.
The Permanent Secretary expressed appreciation to the retirees for their long years of service, and appealed to them to see the gifts given as a token of appreciation of the love the Ministry has for them.
Mrs Boma Abolo, who spoke for the retirees, thanked the Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary for appreciating their long years of service to the government.
The climax of the occasion was the presentation of gifts to all the 23 retirees including 19 fridges of different categories and four gas cookers with already filled cylinders for the retirees.
