Council Set To Train 300 Freight Forwarders
The Council for the
Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) says it has concluded plans to train 300 registered freight forwarding practitioners in professional certificates for the 2015 academic session.
Mr Mike Jukwe, the Council’s Registrar said this at an interactive session with the leadership of accredited Associations of Freight Forwarding Reforms, a statement signed by Mrs Chinyere Uromta, the Head, Corporate Affairs of the council, said.
Jukwe listed the certificates as FIATA Diploma and Higher Diploma in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management Programmes.
He urged the practitioners to avail themselves of the education and training opportunities provided by the council to boost the sector.
“Time is gone when industry practitioners are looked down on; the practitioners are encouraged to acquire an indepth knowledge of the industry in order to compete favourably in the comity of nations,’’ Jukwe said in the statement.
Jukwe, however, called on the association to make haste in the submission of nominees for the programmes, which would launch the industry into a new era of standardisation and professionalism.
He encouraged the practitioners to key into the numerous educational reform programmes provided by the council, such as the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCDP).
Other programmes include Executive Diploma in Freight Forwarding and other short and medium-term refresher courses to be organised by the Nigerian Institute of Freight Forwarders.
Jukwe noted that the programmes would be done run collaboration with the accredited association.
He said that the programmes would improve and broaden the skill and competences of the practitioners.
He said MCDP would serve as criteria for the issuance and removal of the Annual Freight Forwarders Practitioners License being issued by the council.
