2015 Elections: APC Lauds Rivers Electorate
The All Progressives
Congress (APC) in Rivers State has commended Rivers electorate for standing by the party during the just concluded 2015 elections.
Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State said the massive support of the Rivers electorate to the party before, during and after the polls demonstrates the popularity of the party in the state.
Speaking at a special thanksgiving service organised by the Greater Together Campaign Organisation (GICO) at the Dr. Obi Wali International Conference centers Amaechi said despite the outcome of the elections in the state, APC was determined to recover the mandate of the people to the party.
Already, he said the party has commenced documenting all atrocities meted out on APC during the elections with a view to forwarding it has to the incoming Buhari administration for proper investigation and possible prosecution.
According to him “We were fighting with INEC, we were fighting with the police, we were fighting with Nigerian Army and then were fighting with militants,” adding that any security agent who also collided with the opposition will be investigated and brought to book.
The governor said the situation calls for sober reflection.
According to him, “This is the time to call God, without him, we are going nowhere”.
Also speaking at the occasion, the (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, said the outcome of the election resulted from a compromised electoral commission, INEC.
Peterside stated that even before entering the elections, the party had resolved that it will not engage in any act of violence.” We went to the elections with the mindset that we rather die than kill anybody,” he said.
He said the party’s stance not to engage in acts of violence and killing ensured that God stood by them and protected party members, recalling the various attacks suffered by them during the political campaigns.
