AssociationAdvocates Financing Policy For Waste Management
Waste Managers As
sociation of Nigeria (WAMASON), has urged the government and relevant stakeholders to formulate financing policy that will give priority to waste management infrastructure.
This is contained in a statement signed by the association’s Publicity Secretary Mr Niyi Sayinolu, and made available to newsmen in Lagos.
It explained that the second international summit is being planned in conjunction with the Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for African Region (BCCCAR) and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA).
It stated that the summit aimed at developing sustainable financing solutions in waste management within the context of legislation, policy, technical and institutional roles.
“It will take into consideration environmental, health and socio economic implications.
“The summit is in recognition of the fact that in today’s world, the modern and competitive economy is no longer limited to roads, power, hospital, schools or housing but other areas of environmental infrastructure.
“A complimentary blend of all is regained for advancement of economic growth, stability, quality of life and environmental sustainability,’’ the statement added.
