PDP’s Dead In Rivers -Ake
Former Rivers State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Chief Godspower Ake, has described the PDP as a dead and forgotten party in Rivers State.
He said Rivers people have rejected PDP because it represents broken promises, hopelessness and insecurity.
Ake who is widely acknowledged as one of the most astute politicians in Rivers State also said that the irony of PDP’s tragedy is that even at the moment; its leaders and promoters are still unaware of the party’s calamity.
He said, ‘Today, I can affirm that PDP is dead. We all once loved PDP until the party chose the path of self-destruction. PDP decided to destroy itself. Today, I can say with every sense of responsibility that PDP is dead and buried.
‘For six years, I was PDP’s chairman. I have been in politics for over 30 years. From the day they removed me forcefully, there has not been peace but I know that the All Progressives Congress, (APC) will return peace to Rivers State. Every day, people are being killed here. A lot of people are also running away from our place and businesses are closing down. In fact, PDP has destroyed our communities”, he added.
Ake, who almost broke down in the course of his emotional speech, called on his people to be strong and to reject PDP on February 14 and 28.
He warned that a vote for PDP is a vote for violence and death because leaders of PDP are bad managers of power.
He said, “Power comes from God. If God gives you power, you must use it responsibly. PDP has neither shown respect nor responsibility. Let us also remind ourselves that power must not be taken by force. When God gives you power, He expects you to bring peace and prosperity with it. But PDP has given the opposite.
“Dakuku, you are winning this election because you are different. We all know you and we can attest to your competence and good nature. The people know who they want. They will not elect those who will destroy them”. I can stand here to affirm that Dakuku has integrity, is God fearing and has a clear cut vision of where he and his team wants to take Rivers State to”, he added.
Meanwhile, APC Woman Leader in Rivers State, Evangelist Caroline Nabgo has described the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as Ebola, she has also urged them to distance themselves from the PDP.
Nagbo, an Ogoni made the declaration in Khana at the flag-off of APC state campaign, urged them to reject the ruling party because it represents incompetence, ingratitude, failure, impunity, oppression, wickedness and lack of vision.
She said the Ogoni were conscious people who were not prepared to waste their votes for any sentimental reason.
According to her, “Ogoniland is where we give winning votes. In 2011, we emotionally gave our votes to Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP but Jonathan betrayed us without even a thought. Something as fundamental as cleaning up Ogoniland is being treated as if our lives do not matter. They want us all dead”.
This is payback time and we are waiting for them. They will not get a single vote from Ogoniland and I mean every word. “Therefore we have resolved to reject them. But any Ogoni son or daughter that votes for PDP is bringing Ebola and we reject Ebola”, he emphasised.
