FG Assures Nigerians On Potable Water
The Minister of Water
Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe, has restated government’s commitment to providing potable water to all Nigerians.
Ochekpe was speaking at the inauguration of a water project in Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo.
Our correspondent reports that the water project was facilitated by Mr Jude Imagwe, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youths and Student Matters, who hails from the community.
Represented by Mr Ebenezer Mafajeyomi, Managing Director, Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority, Ochekpe stressed the need for Nigerians to have access to drinkable water.
“Federal Government is fully committed to fulfilling its promises on access to potable water to the people.
“This is to ensure that all water projects undertaken by President Goodluck Jonathan administration were promptly delivered’’, she said.
She added that the ministry was focusing on rural areas where there was no access to water, adding that the project would address the issue of poor access to safe water.
The traditional ruler of Agenebode, the Okumagbe of Weppa Wanno, George Eghabor, commended the federal government for the water project.
He said the community lacked access to potable water, adding that the project would assist in providing good drinking water to the people.
He urged the people of the community to continue to support the policies and programmes of the federal government so as to make life more meaningful for the people.
