College Wins NNPC/MPN Quiz Competition In Bonny

College, Bonny has emerged winner of this year’s edition of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited Quiz Competition for schools in Bonny.
The college scored 34 points to emerge winner of the competition, while Kings and Queens High School and Lucille Educational Centre came second and third respectively.
In his goodwill message the Manager Field Public and Government Affairs Engr. Adeyemi Fakayejo said that the competition was in line with the commitment by the company to develop education in Bonny.
Engr. Fakayejo who was represented by Engr. Idy Ebose said that the company had always collaborated with the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee to continue sole funding of specific projects.
He further said that the company had invested so much in the educational development of Nigerians through the award of scholarship, stressing that the joint venture awards 500 undergraduates’ scholarship to Nigerian students studying in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The manager Recreasport Consult Nigeria Limited, Dr. Jude S. Ben-Stowe said that seven secondary schools had initially participated in the competition, but the number has now increased to eight, following the entry into the competition by Lucille Education Centre.
He further said that the competition which was conducted on preliminary was very keen and tasking as the contestants displayed their academic knowledge.
“This competition featured in seventeen subject areas of the school curriculum including current affairs.
“The emphasis is on the sciences and mathematics where over 94.5 percent of the questions were drawn” he said.
Among the schools which took part in the competition are: Bonny National Grammar School, Government Girls Secondary School Finima and Community Secondary School Borokiri Bonny.
The rest are: Community Secondary School Bonny, Spring Foundation College Bonny, Kings and Queens High School Abalamabie Bonny, Ibitamuno Secondary School Bonny and Lucille Education Centre Eagle Forest Bonny.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector.
