NGO Pays Exam Fees For 600 Students
A non-governmental
organisation, the Segious Osasochie Ogun Foundation, has paid the 2014/2015 NECO enrolment fees for 600 secondary school students of Esan North-East and Esan South-East Local Government Areas of Edo.
Our correspondent reports that the foundation also gave scholarship awards to six students in both local governments to study in any university of their choice.
Presenting the cheques to the students, the chairman of the foundation, Mr Segious Osasochie, said the payment of the NECO fees was to enhance the academic careers of the students.
He said that the foundation resolved to settle the fees of the students out of their determination and commitment to further their education.
“These students are the future leaders of tomorrow; that is why the foundation has embarked on the payment of their NECO fees.
“And also to assist in the academic pursuits of students in the local governments by improving the standard of education in the area,’’ he said.
The chairman of the foundation called on the students to take their studies seriously even as he promised to give university scholarships to students who passed the exams.
Mr Monday Itula and Miss Paulina Obomigie, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the organisation for the gesture.
They said that the payment of the fees would inspire them to take their studies seriously, so that in the future, they would also be of help to others.
