BMSH Gets ICT Facility
The Rivers State
Government has installed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facility at the Braite Wait Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH) in bid to rank it among the first class hospitals in the world.
Speaking during the facilities tour at BMSH recently, the Special Adviser to Governor Amaechi on ICT, Engr Goodliffe Nmekini, said another aim of the project was to fact track interactive communication between doctors and other health workers in the state.
He said that the system would also improve registry, pharmaceutical and clinical services in BMSH.
Nmekini noted that the project has the capacity to enhance research, training, statistical analysis among health institutions in the state. According to him, health processes would be made much easier upon full operation of those facilities.
Collaborating with his SA’s statement, the Governor said that the hospital (BMSH) should be run strictly as referred centre.
He argued that patients should not stay long in the hospital, but be referred to other secondary health hospitals in the state.
Some doctors and other health workers in the hospital who also spoke with newsmen said that the ICT facilities would aid in diverse ways including work speech.
They pointed out that the analogue days never helped matters in the place, while landing the state ICT department over what they described as work well done.
It would be recalled that Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi and his entourage were at BMSH penultimate week to tour the ICT facility by the department (ICT) at BMSH pediatrics unit.
