Amaechi Hails New APC National Exco

L-R: Archbishop of Ibadan, Most Rev. Segun Okubadejo, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Primate of Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh and his wife, Nkasiobi, at the opening of Anglican Communion Standing Committee Meeting in Ibadan, recently.
The Rivers state Governor and Chairman Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has hailed the new national executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who emerged in the just concluded national convention.
A statement by the Rivers State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari on behalf of the Rivers State Government, assured the new executive that the people of Rivers state would join them “to sweep out the old order of corruption and confusion in our country as we embrace the new dawn of change”.
It said the “APC is a party of Progressive who share common goal of safeguarding the nation”, and stressed that Governor Amaechi is committed completely to the goals of the APC, and would work assiduously alongside all party faithful to achieve this noble cause.
The statement noted that the ruling peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was jittery and has embarked on a smear campaign as the emergence of the APC national officers is the first major political step and victory of the party in its effort to bring about the desired change in leadership for the country.
According to the statement, “the APC Convention of June 13th and 14th was a clear indication that the party is fully reinvigorated and united more than ever before”.It particularly described the national officers who emerged at the convention as men and women of repute, and expressed delight that the party would be led by a person of impeccable character and towering stature like His Excellency, John Odigie-Oyegun, the former Governor of Edo State.
The statement said repeated enquiries from well meaning persons have made it imperative for the state government to restate the often repeated position of Governor Amaechi in view of what it described as clear false hood and concocted interview allegedly granted by the governor now being peddled by the PDP to confuse Rivers people.
